Scientists Believe Outbreaks In Both States Related To Each Other

Chicago- There have been outbreaks in both Michigan and Ohio in the past two weeks of E. Coli and the two separate but similar outbreaks are linked according to scientists.

Both outbreaks are believed to have been caused by consumption of tainted ground beef, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.

This recent new illness that is striking certain groups in both states comes right on the heels of the national scare from salmonella, that has made ill over 550 people in over 30 states.

More than 15 people have come down with E. Coli in Michigan, and these people all seemed to have been customers of Kroger Food Stores, the largest national grocery store chain.

Other cases of E. Coli reported in Ohio and elsewhere in Michigan also seem to be related to meat found at Kroger supermarkets in the two states.

“We are working with state and federal authorities to secure our meat supply and to make sure that we do not sell meat that is tainted or that will cause sickness in any way,” said Meghan Glynn.

Meghan Glynn is the national spokeswoman for Kroger Food Stores.
