Cell Phone Use While Driving Requires Hands Free Device

California-The new law in California that requires the use of a hands free device when using a cell phone while driving began on Tuesday July 1st.

The use of a cell phone without a hands free device for the first time is just a fine of $20 dollars.

But the biggest change is in public opinion, and this will be a law that will drastically affect the driving and cell phone use for thousands of Californians.

On Monday it was okay to talk on your cell phone and drive.

On Tuesday suddenly it was not.

Many other states and countries have had a no-mobile-telephone-while-driving laws for years, but the state of California has been a long standing bastion of cell phone and driving freedom.

Some studies show that talking on hands free devices are perhaps as dangerous as using cell phones normally without a hands free device.

One of the side effects of the new law may be that those people that are flaunting the law and still using their cell phones without a hands free device are forced to keep an eye out for the police.

This in itself may distract drivers even more.
